James Franco plays brilliant scientist Will Rodman who inadvertently creates a chimp with human-like characteristics and intelligence. He falls in love with a primatologist played by Freida Pinto and the couple raise Caesar the chimp, as their child. Big problems set in when Caesar grows up and realizes that the primates are being dominated by humans. Pitting apes against mankind, Caesar along with the other chimps seek to gain power as the end of civilization approaches.

“Rise of the Planet of the Apes” opens August 4 in theaters nationwide from 20th Century Fox.
